CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 20^th MARCH 2022

1. ‘International Day of happiness’ is observed every year around the world on March 20. The theme for Happiness Day 2022 is ‘Keep Calm, Stay Wise and Be Kind’.
2. ‘World Sparrow Day’ (WSD) is celebrated every year on March 20^th. The theme of World Sparrow Day is “LOVE Sparrows”.
3. ‘World Oral Health Day’ is observed every year on 20^th March. The theme for the next three years, 2021-2023 is: ‘Be Proud of Your Mouth’.
4. The ‘UN French Language Day’ is observed annually on 20 March. The Day was established by the UN’s Department of Public Information in 2010.
5. In an attempt to ensure the social security of over 7,000 tea garden workers of Tripura, the state government has announced a special scheme named “Mukhyamantri Chaa Srami Kalyan Prakalpa”.
6. Odisha observed the ‘Pakhala Dibas’ on 20 March 2022, marking the popularity of the state’s main staple food for ages.
7. Manipur’s Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh was elected for the second term on 20 March, 2022.
8. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has launched Quick Response (QR) code for its GI-tagged Kashmiri carpet. The first-ever consignment of GI-tagged carpets was exported to Germany from New Delhi in March 2022.
9.  Axis Bank has been awarded ‘IFR Asia’s Asian Bank of the Year’. The bank also won the ‘Best DCM House in India’ Award at the ‘Finance Asia’s Country Awards’.
10. Karnataka Bank Limited has been honoured with ‘ASSOCHAM Award’s Best MSME Bank’ of the Year award.
11.  India has been placed at 139^th position out of 149 countries in the UN World Happiness Report 2021 released.
12. The Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh inaugurated a new Flight Control System (FCS) integration complex at the Aeronautical Development Established (ADE), Bengaluru, Karnataka.
13. An architect Diebedo Francis Kere from Burkina Faso, West Africa became the first African to win the 51^st ‘Pritzker Architecture Prize 2022’.  
14.  The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has unanimously the tenure of its incumbent President Jay Shah for a period of one year.
15.  The board of IT major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the re-appointment of Rajesh Gopinathan as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company for five years.
16.  The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has organized the massive military drill ‘Cold Response 2022’ in Norway from March 14, 2022 and will continue till April 01, 2022.
17.  Pankaj Advani lifted his eighth title at the 19^th ‘Asian Billiards Championship 2022’ in Doha, Qatar after beating compatriot Dhruv Sitwala 6-2, on 19 March, 2022.
